Midjourney Review 2026
Midjourney is a subscription image generator that bills by GPU time. Its four plans run from $10 to $120 a month, with unlimited Relax-mode images from Standard upward and Stealth mode only on Pro and Mega. Zapier describes its output as aimed at artistic results. We did not test it.
Profile
Midjourney sells four subscription tiers: Basic, Standard, Pro and Mega (H13). Zapier describes the product as aimed at artistic results (F3).
Midjourney’s own site returned 403 in our checks. The figures below come from its plan comparison and GPU-speed help article as shown in search results on 2026-10-16 (H13 to H15), and from third-party sources where noted.
Strengths named in our sources
- Relax mode: Standard, Pro and Mega include unlimited image generation in a slower queue once Fast time runs out (H14).
- Stealth mode on Pro and Mega keeps generations out of the public gallery (H14).
- Extra Fast GPU time can be bought at $4 an hour on every plan (H14).
- The plan table lists General Commercial Terms for all four tiers (H13).
Drawbacks named in our sources
- Generations are public by default on plans without Stealth mode (F3, H14).
- Basic has no Relax mode, so generation stops until the next renewal once its 3.3 hours of Fast time run out (H13, H14).
- Monthly Fast time does not carry over to the next month (H14).
- Third-party sources report that companies with more than $1,000,000 in annual gross revenue must be on Pro or Mega to use images for company purposes (H16). We did not read this in the official text.
- Zapier reports that the free trial is paused (F3).
Pricing as the sources list it
- Basic: $10 a month, or $96 a year ($8 a month). Standard: $30 a month, or $288 a year ($24 a month). Pro: $60 a month, or $576 a year ($48 a month). Mega: $120 a month, or $1,152 a year ($96 a month) (H13).
- Fast GPU time per month: 3.3 hours on Basic, 15 on Standard, 30 on Pro and 60 on Mega (H13).
- Extra Fast time: $4 an hour on all plans (H14).
What the vendor says
The GPU-speed help article gives about 0.8 GPU minutes for a standard prompt and about 1.3 minutes for an HD prompt. Turbo mode uses double the Fast time per image (H15).
Who it suits
- Artists and designers who want a consistent house style and mostly make still images.
- Client-facing teams that need Stealth mode or company commercial use, which points to Pro or Mega (H14, H16).
- Less suited to someone who wants a free tier or a fixed price per image, since billing is by GPU time and there is no free plan (H13).
What we did not test
We did not generate images on Midjourney and did not measure quality, speed or queue times. The GPU-minute figures are the vendor’s published estimates, not our timings.
How to run your own trial
Make one small piece of work you would really publish: one image or one short clip, with the subject and style you need. Check the privacy setting and the commercial terms on the plan you would buy before you generate anything for a client. Note how many credits, tokens or GPU minutes the job used, and compare that with the plan’s monthly allowance. Where the sources disagree on price, use the vendor page as the final source.

FAQ
Does Midjourney have a free plan?
The plan comparison we captured lists four paid plans and no free tier (H13). Zapier reports that the free trial is paused (F3). Confirm the current offer on the vendor site before you sign up.
How many images does the $10 Basic plan give?
Midjourney bills GPU time, not image counts. Its help article gives about 0.8 GPU minutes for a standard prompt (H15), so 3.3 hours of Basic Fast time comes to roughly 250 standard prompts by that estimate. The plan comparison gives GPU time, not an image count, so no fixed number of images is stated here.
Are my Midjourney images public?
Images are public on plans without Stealth mode. Stealth mode is listed on Pro and Mega only (H14). Check the privacy setting on your own account before you generate client work.
